An eye is a pierced drum
Parametric speakers, LED Lights, Plexiglass, MDF, Pine, Acrylic paint, Canvas, Epoxy Resin, Spackling
The rippling activity of sound is a clue to unseen gestures made by objects and walls. On still winter days, the West face of my home creaks and pops as it expands in the heat of the afternoon sun - shifting and skewing - disallowing my door to latch and telling of exchange in its ebb and flow.
Through and Through
Steel, Canvas, Acrylic Paint, Joint Compound, Tape, Laser Sight
Dust and debris trace the profile of a once present wall, telling of process, temporality, plasticity and impermanence - all characteristics of sound that defy rigid, fixed and visually opaque depictions of space. This work serves as a harbinger of inevitable events of the surrounding architecture of the gallery.
Monad
Digital Projector, Contact Mic, Agitative Transducer
A contact mic is affixed to a spring-mounted projector. An agitative transducer, mounted to the body of the projector, receives its signal from the contact mic. Upon activation, the 1:1 projection of a single white pixel becomes a moving image.
